Fire Danger
"Yes, please explain," you say.
He nods toward the table. "Suppose that were on fire right
now. How would you put it out?"
"Fetch some water and..."
"Water? Which water is that?" He holds up a pan. "Every
day I chuck some ice and put it in the stove, eh? The heat from the pilot
light melts it. That's the only way we get water.
"Ice clogs nozzles. Pipes and hoses freeze solid," he
goes on. "Fire is real scary here in the Arctic."
